DDA Access Statement

The Ashes Caravan Park is a touring caravan park with 25 hard standing pitches for those 18 years & over. We are a five star park.

The pitches for caravans, motorhomes & trailer-tents are accessed from an oval track, which is made up of local stone, compacted to provide a solid but slightly uneven surface. The whole site is slightly sloping & has lovely views of the surrounding rolling fells on which sheep & cattle graze. The site is ideal for those seeking peace & relaxation.

Reception is at the site entrance, at the front of the old farmhouse known as The Ashes & has 2 steps. This is a short walk from the arrivals area, however, if necessary help can be summoned by calling our telephone number which is 01539 731833. When paying by chip & pin a visit to reception will be necessary. There is space to park a car or motorhome directly outside reception for a short time.

Reception for new arrivals is available from 12.30pm until 8.00pm.
For guests on site reception times are from 12.00pm until 3.00pm & 6.00pm until 8.00pm.
Space for parking is provided on each pitch. This will be on grass if an awning or canopy is being used or on hard standing if not.

Priority will be given to those guests who indicate a special need at the time of booking, but may depend on the pitches available on the day of arrival.
Signage on the park is large & clear. There are no steps or steep hills on the park itself.
The sanitary block has step-free access to the ladies & gents toilets. Grab rails are provided in one cubicle of each to assist sitting & standing. The main doorways & cubicle doors are of a standard width & open inwards.

A designated unisex toilet & washroom for less able guests has step-free access. The door opens inwards & grab rails are provided throughout. This facility is large enough to allow a companion assistant if necessary.

There are two unisex individual shower rooms. One has a step-free access, the other with one step. Both have standard width doors opening inwards & are large enough to allow a companion assistant if necessary. A dry seating area is available but there is no seat in the showers themselves which have a small step up into them. Grab rails are provided throughout. Drinking water needs to be collected from your nearest stand pipe & waste water disposed of at the emptying point. There is a designated motorhome waste water dump point. There are 3 fully serviced pitches with drinking water, TV point & waste water drain.

Lighting is provided on the park & is suited to the rural nature of the park.
Dogs are welcome on leads & an enclosed exercise area is provided. If an assistance dog may not be kept on a lead then this should be discussed at the time of booking.
Reasonable coverage of all mobile phone networks is available as is a boosted digital TV signal & WiFi Internet access can be purchased here.

An information file is provided to each unit on arrival. This contains lots of leaflets on things to do & places to go along with some useful local information printed in large, clear font. Extra information on accessible attractions is also available on request.

Our brochure is clear & simple having dark lettering on a cream background. There is some ‘small print’ that can easily be reproduced in a larger font.

We have a website which is clear & easy to navigate with an online booking enquiry facility.
The park has resident owners working with site wardens who will be happy to discuss your personal requirements & are on hand to help you during your stay.
