DDA Access Statement

The Ashes Caravan Park is a touring caravan park with 25 hard standing pitches for those 18 years and over. We are a five star park in a quiet, rural location.

The pitches for caravans, campervans, motorhomes and trailer-tents are accessed from an oval track, which is made up of local stone, compacted to provide a solid but slightly uneven surface. The whole site is slightly sloping and has lovely views of the surrounding rolling fells on which sheep and cattle graze. The site is set in a farming community and is ideal for those seeking peace and relaxation.

Reception is at the site entrance, at the front of the old farmhouse known as ‘The Ashes’ and has 2 steps. This is a short walk from the arrivals area, however, if necessary help can be summoned by calling our telephone number which is 01539 731833. There is space to park a car and caravan or motorhome directly outside reception for a short time.

Reception for new arrivals is available from 12.30pm until 9.00pm. Outside those times, please contact us via telephone.
For guests on site, visit reception or call 01539 731833.
Space for parking is provided on each pitch. This will be on grass if an awning or canopy is being used, or on hard standing if not.

Priority will be given to those guests who indicate a special need at the time of booking, but may depend on the pitches available on the day of arrival.
Signage on the park is large and clear. There are no steps or steep hills on the park itself.
The sanitary block has step-free access to the ladies and gents toilets. Grab rails are provided in one cubicle of each, to assist sitting and standing. The main doorways and cubicle doors are of a standard width and open inwards.

A designated unisex toilet and washroom for less able guests has step-free access. The door opens inwards and grab rails are provided throughout. This facility is large enough to allow a companion assistant if necessary.

There are two unisex individual shower rooms. One has a step-free access, the other with one step. Both have standard width doors opening inwards and are large enough to allow a companion assistant if necessary. A dry seating area is available but there is no seat in the showers themselves which have a small step up into them. Grab rails are provided throughout.

Water and waste water is accessible from each individual pitch. There is also a designated motorhome waste water dump point. All pitches have free WiFi and boosted digital television signal.

Lighting is provided on the park and is suited to the rural nature of the site.
Dogs are very welcome but should be kept on a lead whilst on site. A secure, enclosed exercise area is provided. If an assistance dog may not be kept on a lead then this should be discussed at the time of booking.

An information leaflet is provided to each unit on arrival. This contains some useful information printed in large, clear font including emergency phone numbers and postcodes which may be needed. Extra information regarding attractions and recommended places to visit are also available on request.

We have a website which is clear and easy to navigate.
The park is family run and has resident owners who will be happy to discuss your personal requirements. The owners are on hand 24/7 to help you during your stay.
