Guests often ask for our advice on good places to eat out in Kendal. There are many good places to eat in the area and here is just a selection for you.

The New Moon is at 129 Highgate, Kendal. Open for lunches & evening meals every day – except Sunday & Monday. Serving dishes with a classic twist on the ‘Best of British’.

Excellent value ‘Early Supper’ menu with a starter a main course for just £13.95. Try their Confit duck leg, served with carrot and potato mash, green beans and an apple ginger, chilli and honey sauce.

 

Romneys is at 72  Milnthorpe Road, Kendal. With a great reputation for excellent Carveries which they serve daily from 12pm – 6.30pm or later until 8.30pm on Sundays.

They also have an exceptional bar menu. Try their signature dish of Sous Vide Beef Cheeks, served on Buttery Mashed Potatoes with Roasted Shallots, Lakeland Pancetta, own Jus & a Medley of Vegetables at £13.45 or go for a selection of lighter Tapas Style Bar Snacks – choose three for £10.00.

Tuesday night is ‘Steak Night’. Order two steaks & get a bottle of house wine for £1.00.

 

Jintana Thai have several restaurants in The Lakes one of which is at 101 Highgate, Kendal. Open in the evenings from 5pm every day except Monday.

Jintana Thai has a nice, intimate atmosphere & is great for a romantic meal for two. Their ‘Early Evening Menu’ from 5pm – 6pm starts at £12.95 for two courses.

A simple but delicious menu. If you like Thai food you will really enjoy this!

 

 

mumbai_indian_restaurantMumbai is an Indian restaurant at 8 Stramongate, Kendal. Open every evening from 5.30pm until 10.30pm or 11.30pm.

Their menu has many traditional or speciality dishes & is very good value for money. Try their Indian breads – lovely & fresh.

The food is good, the staff are great, website is fairly rubbish – but don’t let that put you off.

 

 

Paulo Giannis is an Italian restaurant at 21a Stramongate, Kendal. Open daily lunchtime 12pm -2.30pm & evenings from 5.30pm – 10.30pm.

Offering a very good value Happy Hour Menu at lunchtime & until 6.30pm in the evening. Choose from a wide selection of pizzas & traditional pasta dishes.

They are family friendly & cater for parties so take my advice & request a quiet table – if that’s what you prefer.

They also have a very nice wine bar next door called Sphere, where you can indulge in tasty Italian tapas with your chilled Pinot Grigio.
